Jon Robertson, dean of Lynn University's Conservatory of Music and Philharmonia guest conductor, today invited the public to attend 12 musical events this March and April, including three performances of the classic Lerner and Loewe musical Paint Your Wagon, and the Class of 2019 in concert.
Conservatory of Music concerts run through May in the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center, the Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall or the Snyder Sanctuary, all located on Lynn's Boca Raton campus.

Mostly Music Series-Schubert
Schubert was the only Viennese master composer of his period who was native to that city. He had inherited the 18th century Classical style but composed with a Romantic vein of melody and expressive harmony of the 19th century. This program will feature some of his masterworks.

John Oliveira String Competition Finals
Open to the public, the third annual John Oliveira String Competition displays some of Lynn's most talented string players in the final round. The winner will be presented on Sunday, April 7. This competition is made possible by a gift from violinist Elmar Oliveira, brother and student of John Oliveira.

Paint Your Wagon

Fortunes rise and fall during the California gold rush in Lerner and Loewe's classic musical about love and ambition. It features gorgeous standards like They Call the Wind Maria, I Talk to the Trees and Wand'rin' Star. A hardened, old California prospector strikes it rich as his daughter Jennifer finds gold and the love of a local miner, Julio. The town grows more populous and prosperous as news of the strike spreads, as the daughter heads east to attend school. Upon returning, Jennifer finds the town abandoned as citizens retreat for another gold strike, leaving her to reunite with her father and create a new life with Julio.

Rodney Ackmann, bassoon
Bassoonist Rod Ackmann will give a short performance and master class to students of the Conservatory. Ackmann is currently the professor of bassoon at the University of Oklahoma, and for 22 years, served as the principal bassoon of the Tulsa Philharmonic.

The bassoon studio of Professor Eric Van der Veer Varner presents a concert of works ranging from the Renaissance to the present-day. Solo works, duets, trios and the entire Lynn Conservatory Bassoon Ensemble plays the music of Claudio Monteverdi, J.S. Bach, Gustav Holst and many others.
