Lynn University Sets 2015-16 Jan McArt's New Play Readings Series

Lynn University and Producer Jan McArt, director of theatre arts program development, are announcingthe upcoming series of Jan McArt's New Play Readings. Under the leadership and guidance of McArt, this program develops new plays by highly acclaimed playwrights through staged readings.

The 4-part series will be held November through April in the beautiful Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center, located on Lynn's campus in Boca Raton.

November 2

The Vivian Vance Story

A new play with music by Eric H. Weinberger

Directed by John Tolley

* Monday: 7:30 pm

Known the world over as Ethel Mertz, Lucille Ball's sidekick in I Love Lucy, Vivian Vance had a difficult and complicated life-from her humble roots in Kansas to the lofty heights she reached as the most famous "second banana" in television history.

January 11

The Goldberg Variations

A new comedy by Stuart Meltzer

Directed by Margaret M. Ledford

* Monday: 7:30 pm

In a time of crisis, a family is forced to come together after several years of separation to deal with the present, the future and to learn to let go of the past. Told through the lens of each character, the play is a whimsical look at a family breaking apart.

March 7

Middletown

A new play by Dan Clancy

Directed by Peter Pilaski

* Monday: 7:30 pm

Two couples, Don and Dottie Abrams and Tom and Peg Hogan, from Middletown, N.J., reminisce about their friendship of thirty-seven years, their marriages, the birth of their children and grandchildren, their disappointments and their great joys.

April 4

Wave Your Flag

A new comedy with music by Tony Finstrom

Directed by Wayne Rudisill

Starring Jan McArt

* Monday: 7:30 pm

In fall 1942, the legendary Super Chief train raced from Los Angeles to Chicago filled with movie stars selling war bonds and promoting their new film about Betsy Ross. The film is set to premiere at their final destination but little do they know there is a dangerous Nazi spy among them.
