Lynn University Conservatory of Music Will Offer 18 Performances in March and April

Jon Robertson, dean of Lynn University Conservatory of Music and Philharmonia guest conductor, today invited fans of classical music to 18 performances during March and April, including a three-show presentation of the Lerner & Loewe hit musical Gigi.

"Elaine's annual musical treat" is a collaborative concert by the Lynn Philharmonia Orchestra and the Live at Lynn Series. This showcase musical features a full cast of professional stage performers who bring this delightful show to life. Lerner and Loewe's musical comedy is about a free-spirited young girl living in Paris at the turn of the 20th century and the wealthy young playboy who falls in love with her as she is transformed into a poised courtesan. Includes songs Thank Heaven for Little Girls and I Remember It Well. Glamorous Palm Beach philanthropist Lois Pope, who was a singer-actress earlier in her career, is returning to the stage as one of the headliners in this dazzling production.

John Oliveira String Competition Final
Open to the public, this competition showcases Lynn's talented string players in the final round. The winner will be presented on Sunday, April 26. A generous gift from violinist Elmar Oliveira, brother and student of John Oliveira, makes this competition possible.

Violin Master Class with Glenn Dicterow
Mr. Dicterow, known as concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic for 34 years, an all-time record in that major orchestral position, became the first holder of the Robert Mann Chair in Strings and Chamber Music at the USC Thornton School of Music in 2013. He is also the Chairman of the Orchestral Performance Program at New York's Manhattan School of Music. He is as dedicated to passing along a great musical legacy as he once was to his orchestral work, while maintaining an active career as an orchestral soloist, recitalist and chamber musician.

Alumnus Pianist Ross Salvosa Mini-Recital and Master Class
Ross Salvosa is a faculty member of the Chopin Academy of Music in Washington, chairman and artistic director of Music Without Borders Society, outreach coordinator of the Seattle International Piano Competition and festival and artistic director of Concordia Arts Group. Under the mentorship of Roberta Rust, he received his B.M. and M.M. from Lynn Conservatory of Music, where he was recipient of the National Arts and Letters scholarship award. Salvosa has an extensive range of solo, concerto and chamber music repertoire and has performed in concert venues around the world. His recital includes the complete Chopin Etudes, Op. 10 and the Scriabin Sonata No. 4.

Elmar Oliveira Violin Master Class
Distinguished Artist-in-Residence Elmar Oliveira is known for his impeccable artistry and remains the first and only American violinist to win the Gold Medal at Moscow's prestigious Tchaikovsky International Competition. He is also founder of the Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition that is held triennially at Lynn University. Mr. Oliveira hosts a recital with Sheng-Yuan at the piano featuring works by Mendelssohn, Bach and Ravel.

Piano Master Class with Alexander Wasserman
Pianist Wasserman has performed in chamber music concerts with members of the Atlanta Symphony and New York Philharmonic, and he has appeared as a solo recitalist on the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series in Chicago. Wasserman is on faculty at Reinhardt University in Georgia and is artist director of the Reinhardt Piano Festival and Academy.
