Miami-Dade Parks, Division of Arts and Culture, presents LUMA, a
multimedia theater production that combines light, color, juggling,
music and dance. LUMA creates light and sculpts it into dynamic
forms that dance, spin, and orbit to enchant the view and stimulate
the mind.
The show begins in the darkened theater, where all house and stage
lights are turned off. Soon bright, three dimensional beams of light
jump, bend, vibrate, dance, dazzle, and crawl to the strains of
musical classics. Blending various physical disciplines with hi-tech
illuminated objects, LUMA creates a `TechnoCircus' that will have
audience members on the edge of their seats. The viewer experiences
artistic depictions of natural, artificial, and metaphysical light.
Fireflies dance, shooting stars flash across a darkened stage,
carnival rides spin, and EKG monitors pulse to the heart beat of the
body electric.
Formed in 1996, LUMA is the vision of artistic director Marlin, who
developed the company as a vehicle through which he could engage
audiences on a journey through time, space, and darkness. LUMA has
performed throughout the world to critical and public acclaim.
This performance will delight audiences of all ages. Tickets can be
purchased by calling the Miami-Dade County Auditorium box office at
(305) 547-5414.
