Actors' Playhouse Electrifies the

Miracle Theatre Stage with the

Live Musical Movie Version of Grease
Who can forget heartthrobs John Travolta as the cool, charming Danny Zuko and Australian beauty Olivia Newton-John as the goody-goody Sandy? Not to mention those silk-jacketed Pink Ladies and those tough guy T-birds and the rest of the class of 1959 at Rydell High. If you enjoyed the motion picture Grease, then you are in for a real treat! After months of negotiation, we are thrilled to bring this exciting new stage version of Grease to you for the first time in the South Florida area on a professional stage, featuring songs from the motion picture- "Sandy," "Hopelessly Devoted To You," "You're The One That I Want" and of course "Grease." Actors' Playhouse is proud to present this exciting new version for a seven week run October 1- November 13.

If you saw the Broadway revival of Grease, you know that these songs were not a part of that production. "When we decided to produce the show, we wanted to make an event of it and offer our audiences something new and exciting. With the motion picture growing in popularity since its release in 1979, it seems an obvious choice to incorporate these hit songs into our production," said David Arisco, Artistic Director.

Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey original book music and lyric writers, set out to make a never before its kind 50's rock 'n' roll musical. A perfect period piece, Grease embodied the slick hair, fast cars, and drive-in movies of the era, and in 1979 broke the record as the longest running musical on Broadway.  Its revival began in London and then in New York in 1994.

Director David Arisco has assembled an impressive fifteen-member cast. Jamey Isenor is making his Actors' Playhouse debut, playing the role of Danny Zuko, this marking his sixth production of Grease and fourth time playing Danny. Melanie Penn, last seen at the playhouse as Amneris in Aida, plays Sandy Dumbrowski. Both Jamey and Melanie performed in the National Tour of Grease starring Frankie Avalon. The rest of the cast includes Carbonell Award winner Chrissi Arditto (Cha-Cha DiGregorio). Carbonell Award nominees are Christopher A. Kent (Sonny Latierri), Lisa Manuli (Patty Simcox), Lisa Minett (Frenchy), Stacy Schwartz (Miss Lynch), Vincent D'Elia (Vince Fontaine and Teen Angel), and Brian M. Golub (Doody). The rest of this talented cast includes Xander Chauncey (Kenickie), Henry Gainza (Roger), Trista Moldovan (Betty Rizzo), Heather Rolff (Jan), Amanda Baker (Marty), and Sean Russell (Eugene Florczyk). The choreography, musical direction, and costumes are designed by Multiple Carbonell Award winners Barbara Flaten, Eric Alsford, and Mary Lynne Izzo. Carbonell Award nominees M.P. Amico and Patrick Tennent design the set and lighting. Nathan Rausch, also a Carbonell Award winner is the sound designer.
