Lake Worth Playhouse Opens 58th Season with Legendary Broadway Musical GUYS AND DOLLS

The Lake Worth Playhouse opens its 58th season with the timeless musical comedy, GUYS AND DOLLS. The production features the talents of more than 20 performers from across Palm Beach County and takes place October 8-24 2010 on the stage of the Lake Worth Playhouse located at 713 Lake Avenue in downtown Lake Worth.

Based on Damon Runyon's short story The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown, GUYS AND DOLLS tells the story of a group of small-time gamblers and the ladies in their lives. Nathan Detroit, the organizer of the oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York, bets fellow gambler Sky Masterson that he can't make the next "doll" he sees fall in love with him. The next "doll" to enter happens to be the prim and proper neighborhood missionary, Miss Sarah Brown, and the stage is set for a Heavy Dose of high spirited entertainment set to the toe-tapping beat of Frank Loesser's superlative score.

The Playhouse production of GUYS AND DOLLS is directed by Joanne DePrizio, director of last season's popular song-and-dance show, SWING! The show is choreographed by Playhouse choreographer/dance instructor, Ricky Nahas, who recently co-directed and choreographed the highly acclaimed summer 2010 production of RENT. The 22-member cast of GUYS AND DOLLS includes local award-winning actors Michael DeGrotta as Sky Masterson, Jeannette Thompson as Sarah Brown, Marc Streeter as Big Jule and Gina Nespoli as a high-kicking Hot Box Dancer.
