Lake Worth Playhouse Hosts L-Dub Film Festival

Lake Worth Playhouse to Host Film Festival with Florida Filmmaker  Steev Brown.

Local filmmakers invited to submit projects to the L-Dub Film Festival and take part in the L-Dub Film Adventure. 

The Lake Worth Playhouse and Florida filmmaker Steev Brown will host the City of Lake Worth's first annual film festival September 17-19, 2010. The L-Dub Film Festival will take place at The Playhouse Stonzek Studio Theatre and will include an eclectic mix of films produced by South Florida filmmakers.

"Our goal is to unite hundreds of people - from film students to industry veterans - who wish to expand the possibilities of independent filmmaking in South Florida," said Brown. "The L-Dub Film Festival will create a new environment for local filmmakers to have their films seen by audiences of fellow filmmakers and film enthusiasts."

The festival will include screenings of full-length features, short films, documentaries and music videos, as well as seminars with industry professionals and interactive demonstrations. The event schedule is as follows:

· Friday, September 17 (5:00-10:00 p.m.): The Premiere Event includes a guest welcome and opportunities to network with festival creators and filmmakers both before and after the film presentations. Screenings will include one full-length feature and a series of shorts.

· Saturday, September 18 (12:00-10:45 p.m.): Events include film screenings, seminars with industry professionals and interactive demonstrations.

· Sunday, September 19 (12:00-10:45 p.m.): Events include film screenings, Q&A with a panel of industry professionals (including Dean Lyon, special effects supervisor for the Lord of the Rings trilogy), a red carpet event prior to the last film of the festival, and the award ceremony.

Local filmmakers are invited to take part in the L-Dub Film Adventure, an exciting new film competition that is open to filmmakers of all experience levels. The competition is designed to encourage creativity by challenging filmmakers to write, shoot and edit an original film in just one week. The L-Dub Film Adventure starts Monday, August 30 and runs through Monday, September 6. Entrants will have their films screened at the festival and will be eligible for award recognition and a cash prize at the September 19 L-Dub Film Festival Awards Ceremony.
