Big River premieres first in the season lineup. With a book by William Hauptman and a score by well-known country-music songsmith Roger Miller, this seven-time Tony Award-winner is a musical adaptation of Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Both comical and poignant, this acclaimed musical takes audiences on an adventure down the Mississippi River to tell the powerful tale of a boy's struggle to escape convention, and a man's struggle to find freedom. Performances run October 24 - November 9, 2008.
Leading Ladies by Ken Ludwig, the award-winning author of Lend Me a Tenor, is a fast-paced farce featuring two bachelors who don pantyhose and dresses to pose as the long-lost nieces of a dying Englishwoman with a sizeable fortune to share. Performances run December 5 - 21, 2008.
Nunsense is the talent show staged by the five survivors at the Little Sisters of Hoboken nunnery intent on raising funds to bury four of their dearly departed sisters who lost a bout with botulism brought on by Sister Julia's homemade vichyssoise. This musical comedy by Dan Groggin won the Outer Critics' Circle award for best off-Broadway musical, best book and best music. Performances run January 16 - February 1, 2009.
The Crucible is Arthur Miller's award winning drama that famously details the mass hysteria that led to the tragic Salem witch trials. The accusations of a group of misguided girls set a tenuous town on a mad witch hunt that pits neighbor against neighbor and changes lives forever. Written in 1953 at the height of McCarthyism, Miller's provocative play parallels the events of his time and delivers a dramatic study in "the conflict between a man's raw deeds and his conception of himself." Performances run February 27 - March 15, 2009.
Always...Patsy Cline is a tribute to the legendary country singer whose career was cut short when she died in a plane crash at age 30. Based on the true story of Cline's friendship with a fan she corresponded with from the time they met at a Texas honky-tonk in 1961 until her tragic death in1963, the show features many of Patsy's unforgettable hits, including Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Walking After Midnight.
