J's Cultural Arts Theatre (JCAT) is proud to present Diane Samuels' KINDERTRANSPORT, as the inaugural production of JCAT's 11th season at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC in North Miami Beach, Florida. Running from October 18 - November 5, KINDERTRANSPORT is directed by JCAT's Artistic Director, Michael Andron. Set Design is by Violet Battat, Lighting Design by Zachary Pitchman & Costume Design by Carole Barou-Mootoo. Sound Design & Original Music is by Daveed Ben-Arie. Brian Goldberg stage manages.

Between 1938 & the outbreak of WWII, almost 10,000 children, most of them Jewish, were sent by their parents from Germany to Britain, including 9-year old Eva. When her parents fail to escape, she changes her name & begins the process of denying her roots. It is only when her own daughter discovers some old letters in the attic, that Eva is forced to confront the truth. Though fictitious, it is based upon many real Kindertransport stories. KINDERTRANSPORT is widely used in teaching about the Holocaust.

Featured in KINDERTRANSPORT are Lillian Andron, Dante DiGiacomo, Linda Drozdow, Evan Eiglarsh, Carla Zackson Heller, Penny Landau, Peggy Linker, Zoe Reed, Jordan Singer, Talia Stauber & Andrea Terrasa.

Diane Samuels (Playwright) was born into a Jewish family in Liverpool & studied history at Sidney Sussex College at the University of Cambridge & studied drama at Goldsmiths, University of London. She worked as a drama teacher in inner London secondary schools for five years & as an education officer at the Unicorn Theatre for children. With singer-songwriter Gwyneth Herbert, she wrote the musical, The A-Z of Mrs P, which tells the story of Phyllis Pearsall's creation of the London A to Z street atlas.

A true renaissance man, Michael is an ordained Mohel, a Tai Chi Grand Master & 7th Degree Black Belt, yoga adept & a researcher/practitioner in holistic medicine, as well as a theatre practitioner for the past 45 years.
