Lynn University and producer Jan McArt announce Broadway's leading man Jay Stuart to star in a staged concert version of Kismet for the opening of the theatrical season at Lynn University.

This production is hosted by Live at Lynn and the Lynn University Conservatory of Music and features a cast of 14 backed by the Lynn Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Maestro Terence Kirchgessner with Rome and Marina Saladino in their dancing roles. Kismet is an Arabian fairy tale from the golden age of Broadway musicals, known for its hits "Baubles, Bangles and Beads," "Stranger in Paradise" and "This Is My Beloved."

The performance will take place at the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $40 and are available at 561-237-9000 or events.lynn.edu.

Jay Stuart began his New York career as the leading man in Richard Rodgers' revival of The Boys from Syracuse. On Broadway he succeeded Hal Linden as co-star of The Pajama Game with Barbara McNair and Cab Calloway, was featured in Cry For Us All with Robert Weede, Applause with Arlene Dahl, The Grand Tour with Joel Grey, was stand-by for Dick Van Dyke in the revival of The Music, was featured in all three national tours of Sugar Babies with Mickey Rooney, Ann Miller, Eddie Bracken, Robert Morse and Carol Channing. Stuart had a successful reading of his musical, Champagne and Bosom Buddies with Jerry Herman's music two seasons ago at Lynn University. Besides appearing with Jan McArt in that production, he co-starred with her in Gypsy; I Do, I Do and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas at the Jan McArt's Royal Palm Dinner Theatre and in The Great American Follies at the Parker Playhouse. Regionally, Stuart starred in My Fair Lady; Man of La Mancha; 42nd Street; I Do, I Do; Kismet; Guys and Dolls; La Cage aux Folles; Yeston/Kopit's Phantom and Kiss Me Kate with Ray Bolder. Equally at home in straight plays, Stuart has played in Lend Me a Tenor; Moon Over Buffalo; The Marriage-Go-Round and The Laugh's On Me directed by Mickey Rooney. Television credits include One Life to Live and General Hospital. With Marty Brill, Stuart co-wrote and co-starred in his own television series, The Little Kids' Dynamite All-Star Band.
