Imagine sitting with your best friend, drinking beers and watching the Oscars on TV when, all of the sudden one of the winners names you as the bully who tormented him and provoked his best friend into committing suicide. That's only the first few minutes of the explosive play, "From White Plains" by Michael Perlman being given it's South Florida premiere at Island City Stage.

"Bullying has been such a hot topic recently, and the lasting effects can haunt the victims for years," said Artistic Director Andy Rogow, who is directing this production. "However, what really struck me about this play was the exploration of the bully and whether forgiveness can or should be granted to him. How much suffering is enough for him? At what point might the victim become the bully?"

The cast for this production includes several actors making their debuts with Island City Stage led by South Florida veteran Todd Bruno and Billy Hutto, a visitng artist from New York who are joined by Carbonell Award-winner Alex Alvarez and newcomer Dean Nigro. Joining the Island City Stage creative team of Travis Neff, lighting designer, David Hart, sound designer and Emil White, costume designer, is New York based scenic designer D'Vaughn Agu.

"From White Plains" begins previews on Mar. 21 and 22 with a press and Carbonell opening on March 23. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 5:00 p.m. through Apr. 21 at the Wilton Theater Factory Mainstage, home of Island City Stage, 2304 Dixie Hwy. in Wilton Manors.
