Snow Flakes Will Fall This Holiday Season in Coral Gables!

Actors' Playhouse Presents the FLORIDA PREMIERE of Irving Berlin's White Christmas at the Miracle Theatre

The Miracle Theatre will get its first brush with snow — on stage, with the Florida Premiere of the musical comedy White Christmas.

This staging of the film-inspired show follows a world premiere production in San Francisco's Orpheum Theatre in 2004, the 50th anniversary of the memorable film, and again in 2005. In 2004 the production was staged at the Los Angeles Pantages Theatre and Boston's Wang Theatre. Actors' Playhouse is proud to be among a few regional national theatres to receive the licensing rights to produce this extraordinary holiday event to its South Florida Community Now-December 31, 2006 at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables. White Christmas is the story of a team of song and dance men, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis (Terrell Hardcastle and Jody Madaras) who finish their stint in the Army in '44 and head back to civilian life to become huge stars. They meet up with the sister act of Betty and Judy Haynes (Stacy Schwartz and Julie Kleiner) and follow the girls up to a Vermont Inn where they are booked at a ski lodge run by the guys' former commanding officer, Gen. Waverly (Gene Bunge). The inn has fallen on hard times because there is no snow, and so has the general, despite the presence of his caring "concierge," Martha Watson (Lourelene Snedeker), and a visit by his granddaughter, Susan (Sammi-Jack Martincak and Jennifer Rodriguez sharing the role). With romance, song and dance, the show folk find a solution to the general's post-war malaise by planning a show at the inn on Christmas Eve.

All of this is enhanced by memorable classic Berlin songs in the stage version including "Happy Holiday," "Let Yourself Go," "Love and the Weather," "Sisters," "The Best Things Happen While You're Dancing," "Snow," "Count Your Blessings," "Blue Skies," "I Love a Piano," "Love, You Didn't Do Right By Me", "How Deep Is the Ocean," "We'll Follow the Old Man", "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" and "White Christmas".

The 25-member cast sings and dances their way into our hearts under the direction of director David Arisco. The creative team includes Chrissi Ardito (choreographer), Kevin Wallace (musical director), Jeff Quinn (set design), Ellis Tillman (costume design), Patrick Tennent (lighting design), and Nathan Rausch (sound design).

"This is one of those rare musicals, that was a film before a stage production. It is a large scale musical, and we're excited by the challenge," says multiple Carbonell Award-Winning Artistic Director David Arisco. Executive Producing Director Barbara Stein says " we are thrilled to present the Florida Premiere staged version of the memorable film to our community. This is a special opportunity for families to get together over the holidays for a fun-filled musical theatre cultural wonderland in their hometown.  Irving Berlin's White Christmas plays through December 31, 2006.
