There is nothing wrong with being gay...but there's plenty wrong with the way a lot of people are gay. In this musical romp, you'll find that in this new century there are new ways to do everything, and being a 21st Century gay is foremost among those new things.
David Leddick (davidsgaydish.blogspot.com) has also written four musicals with Andrew Sargent as composer: "The Secrets of the Chorus", "Quentin and I", "Presenting Gilda Lilly" and "ESCORTS." He starred in the musical "It's A Fabulous Life", which played to sold-out crowds at the Broward Center of the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale and the Colony Theater in Miami Beach. He has appeared in the world premiere of the "11 O'clock Number", as well as Terrance McNally's "Some Men", both at the Rising Action Theater in Fort Lauderdale. He appeared most recently in the double-bill "Mr. Charles currently of Palm Beach" by Paul Rudnick and "Mexico City," which he wrote.
David Leddick is known world-wide for his novels and homoerotic art books. The author of the Lambda Award-winning books: "Naked Men" and "The Male Nude", David Leddick has published no less than 20 works. His books are available for purchase at www.davidleddick.net.
Kley Tarcitano is a well know entertainer in his home city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He has performed on television and at the HSBC Brazil, Sao Paulo's largest arena. Kley is making his 3nd appearance in a David Leddick show, having previously performed in "Escorts" and "Wishing You A Very Gilda Christmas."
David Cohen, Composer, orchestrated all of Mr. Leddick's previous musicals and now provides the score to "How to Be Gay." A former resident of South Florida, theatergoers will remember Mr. Cohen's work, on stage, as pianist and musical director for many shows. Now a resident of Hollywood, California, Cohen is busy working in tinsel town for the movie industry. He most recently provided the score to "Miami Beach, The Musical." His friends and family know him as Dr. ZZ Cohen!
Composer Andrew Sargent has also written the music for "The Secrets of the Chorus," a backstage-backstabbing musical romp, and "It's a Fabulous Life." His scores are featured in the mini-musical about Quentin Crisp titled "Quentin and I" and the starry-eyed Hollywood fable "Presenting Gilda Lilly." And of course he wrote the score to the standing-room only hit "ESCORTS." His most recent show was the stunning "Miami Beach, The Musical." Sargent studied music at the University of Montevallo, Alabama.
Director Bill Spring received a BA in English with a minor in Theatre Studies at Emory University and also studied acting at the Alliance Theater while in Atlanta. He is a writer, pianist, and performance artist. His performance pieces are usually autobiographical monologues derived from journals (both daily and non-waking hours) and often blur the line between reality and dreams. His play Miss Vanilla and the Hustler was produced in Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and New York City. Bill also had the pleasure of performing his piece The Prehistoric Zip Code of Water at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival in 2010. He serves as Principal Artist at Camposition where he is currently developing a cabaret piece about domestic violence in a same sex relationship with Artistic Director Octavio Campos. It is entitled No Music in the House.
Rising Action Theatre, Inc. is dedicated to promoting and educating the public in diversity and tolerance for all people through theatre arts. It presents plays with multi-cultural themes and works of social relevance. David Goldyn is the Executive Artistic Director and founder of Rising Action Theatre. This is his sixth collaborative event with Mr. Leddick.
V. J. Colonna is the manager for Mr. Leddick and Mr. Sargent. His Production Company, V. J. Colonna Productions, Inc., produced "Presenting Gilda Lilly" "Quentin and I", "The Secrets of the Chorus", "ESCORTS", and Mr. Leddick's cabarets: "David Leddick at the Deauville," "The Littlest Review," and "Let's Fall In Love." He also produced Steven Sondheim's "Company" starring Polly Bergen at the Lincoln Theater in Miami Beach. He is a member of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT.org)
