Gulfshore Playhouse Announces its Educational Offerings
Gulfshore Playhouse is proud to announce its upcoming Gulfshore Playhouse Theatre Education Project offerings this year.The Gulfshore Playhouse Theatre Education Project serves Southwest Florida through a wide variety of unique educational opportunities. The programming provides people from the diverse community accessibility to the art of theatre. Program offerings range from ART SMART, the in-school residencies which teach content curriculum in the schools, to the STAR (Student Theatre Artist in Residence) after-school theatre classes and Summer Acting Intensives, as well as The Saturday Series which features acting and technical training for adults, taught by professional actors and members of the Gulfshore Playhouse creative team.
"It is heartening to see the ways in which we are growing in our ability to serve the community of Southwest Florida, both residents and visitors alike, with our increased offerings of New York-quality professional productions as well as unique educational opportunities," states Kristen Coury, Playhouse Founder and Producing Artistic Director.
The year, as part of the STAR After-School Classes, The Playhouse is offering "Acting Technique for the Stage." Professional teaching artists will take students ages 8-12 on an exciting journey into the magical world of live theatre. These six-session classes will offer a fun and informative series on improvisation, theatre games, pantomime, scene study, movement, memorization and more. These unique learning experiences are great self-esteem builders that also stress teamwork and other key character building lessons. All experience levels are welcome to enroll and step into the spotlight. Series 1 begins Sept 2nd. Classes are offered in six-session series, Thursday afternoons from 4;15-5:45. For The Saturday Series, program offerings for adults have never been easier to attend or commit to. Offered in one-class bite-sized offerings, the classes include audition workshops, classes in laban acting technique, on-camera technique, how to development a Play or Musical, stage management and technical theatre lectures, and improvisation workshops. Gulfshore Playhouse is Naples' first and finest professional theatre company offering a variety of stimulating, thought-provoking and entertaining productions from important classics to Broadway hits and innovative new works.
