Get Groovy with a Girl Power Musical!! Maplewood Playhouse follows up their all male coming of age musical Glory Days, with the all-female production, SHOUT! The Mod Musical, a celebration of all things swingin' '60s. A cultural mish-mash from go-go boots to the pill, a hilarious "Dear Abby" column and a rainbow of fun. Continuing the first season of live theater in the Lake Park Art's District, SHOUT! The Mod Musical opens February 16th at the Kelsey Theater.

The review follows five groovy gals as they come of age during those glorious days that made England swing. Traveling in time from 1960 to 1970, SHOUT! chronicles the dawning liberation of women, from the rise of Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark and Cilla Black as independent women with major careers, to their American counterparts, redefining themselves in the face of changing attitudes about gender. With a shimmy and shake, the songs are tied together by hilarious sound bites from the period - from '60s advertisements to letters answered by an advice columnist who thinks that every problem can be solved with a "fetching new hair style and a new shade of lipstick."

Created by Phillip George and David Lowenstein, SHOUT! features terrific new arrangements of such classic tunes as "To Sir with Love," "Downtown," "Son of a Preacher Man" and "Goldfinger." The first edition of SHOUT! appeared on stage at The Duplex in New York in 2000 and then transferred to London's Jermyn Street Theatre where it was nominated as Best Musical by WhatsOnStage.

Lake Worth resident, Helen Buttery will direct Maplewood Playhouse's production, which features talent from across South Florida including Boca Raton resident Kelly Dilorenzo as the Orange Girl, West Palm Beach resident Annaya Osborne as the Yellow Girl, Boynton Beach resident Rachel O'Hara as the Blue Girl, Miami resident Yanessa Morillo as the Green Girl and Coral Spring resident, Taryn Bagdasarian as the Red Girl.

Veteran performer Kelly Dilorenzo says, "Seeing how I'm the only cast member actually born in the 60s I feel like the Orange Girl is the perfect fit for me. Life experience, maternal instinct and personal evolution are all things I'm excited to bring to this role."

"I am excited because of how tough the musical score is", adds Annaya Osborne." Being able to challenge myself musically is always a good thing. Also, going on this courageous journey to find a love for myself and for the world through "Yellow's" eyes with my most talented cast mates is an exciting bonus"!

Local veteran actress and director Helen Buttery is thrilled to be at the helm of this production with musical direction by well known musical director and Carbonell nominated actor, Michael Ursua. Helen focuses on the message of the show, so relevant in today's cultural climate, "Shout has always appealed to me because I see it as an expression of the women's movement. But not from the aspect of what it means for all women, but what it means for each woman personally. Shout allows us to see the journey of 5 very different women through the lens of their experiences. And while the music is fun - and allows us to reminisce, the beauty of the story is in the transformation".

Newcomer Yanessa Morillo states, "I am extremely thrilled to be in Shout not only because it is my first production after University, but also there is so much diversity in this show. Not only do the characters have such different personalities on stage but off stage such different personalities fly all around the back stage! The music keeps each person on their feet so I have no doubt by the end of each show people will be humming a few tunes on their way home"!

"We are excited that Maplewood Playhouse is bringing live theater to the Lake Park Arts District at The Kelsey Theater" states AJ Brockman, owner of the Kelsey Theater.

All performances will take place at the Kelsey Theater, located at 700 Park Avenue, Lake Park, Florida, 33403.
