Acclaimed tenor Gabriel Silva and Emmy Award-winning soprano Sue Ann Pinner join The Academy Orchestra under the direction of Thomas Servinsky to present "First Christmas" at the Lyric on Friday, November 19 at 8:00 p.m. This delightful program includes well-known operatic arias, love duets and traditional holiday music, including Schubert's "Ave Maria." A highlight of the evening will be the premiere of "Angelo Casto E Bel," the title aria of a new CD by Silva and the Orchestra.
Silva has performed internationally in Tel Aviv, Israel with the New Israeli Opera Studio and in Austria at the Palais Theatre. He has enthralled audiences in the United States in the title role of "Werther" with the Los Angeles Orchestra and Alfredo in "La Traviata" with the Pacific Palisades Symphony, among many others. His rich tenor has been praised as " . . . sometimes a gentle stream that comforts, and other times a raging torrent." Silva has sung in several opera films and television productions.
Internationally known recording artist and composer Sue Ann Pinner has released five classical and crossover recordings, including the top seller, "Ave Maria." This chronological musical history of Ave Marias throughout western civilization has earned accolades that hail it as " . . . a fair approximation of heaven." Pinner performed for Pope John Paul II at the historic Dodger Stadium Papal Mass in Los Angeles. She has been named "Our Lady's Soprano" by Catholic Twin Circle.
The Academy Orchestra is comprised of professional symphony musicians, as well as alumni and advanced musicians from the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony. The combination provides a unique opportunity for serious young instrumentalists to play side-by-side with - and learn from - south Florida's finest professional musicians.
