'Fundraising for Small Nonprofits'

Internationally-Recognized Workshop Takes In-Depth Look at

Fundraising Strategies on June 5 & 6, 2008 at ArtServe

Broward County Cultural Division invites small not-for-profit cultural arts organizations to participate in an internationally-recognized seminar, Fundraising for Small Nonprofits. The workshop will be held at ArtServe Inc., 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale on June 5 & 6, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This course is valuable to both new and seasoned professionals, volunteers, and staff who must raise funds and oversee operations and is an unparalleled opportunity to build staff and board capacity.

Fundraising for Small Nonprofits gives participants knowledge on how to develop a convincing case for financial support; select the donors and markets best suited to your nonprofit; choose the right fundraising vehicles, inspire the leadership potential of volunteers and teaches how to create a fundraising process that works and is attainable with limited resources. Participants will receive a comprehensive, easy-to-use Study Guide with models for future reference; a chance to network with other professionals dealing with similar challenges; hands-on experience in planning special events and interactive training on how to ask for support.

This program, presented in partnership with The Waise Foundation, Community Foundation of Broward's Nonprofit Resource Center and The Association of Fundraising Professionals (Fort Lauderdale Chapter) will be presented by Roberta L. Donahue. With over twenty years in fundraising for cultural and social service agencies in Indiana, Donahue's assignments have included capital campaigns, foundation research and proposal writing, annual giving, special gift clubs, board relations, overall program management and donor/volunteer motivation.  These experiences have been gained in service as executive director and chief development officer for primarily small non-profits.

She currently serves as member of the advisory board of the Pike Performing Arts Center and the Sisters of St. Benedict Lay Board of Advisors.  She served as president of the Indiana Chapter of National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE- now known as AFP) and was a delegate to the National Assembly for six years. Other experiences included Executive Director of the Foundation of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis and Executive Director of the Indiana State Museum Foundation.

Dedicated to the advancement of ethical fundraising, The Fund Raising School helps thousands of professionals around the world achieve new levels of success. For individual attention, class size is limited to 40 participants. The faculty creates a vibrant, hands-on learning atmosphere to make the course rich and enjoyable.

The registration fee for the two-day workshop is $70 per person, and includes a light lunch and a comprehensive study guide written by The Fund Raising School.
