Conundrum Stages' Play Reading Series celebrates its 4th anniversary with a presentation of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin In The Sun.

Saturday, November 22nd @ 2pm

Free admission

A Raisin in the Sun tells the story of a Chicago inner-city family struggling to make ends meet day by day. Walter Lee Younger, a limousine driver, wants better for his wife, Ruth and their son, Travis. Walter's younger sister, Beneatha, wants to become a doctor. Their mother, Lena, wants what is best for both her children. All are waiting for an insurance check issued after the death of the family's patriarch, because each member of the family has ideas on what that check will be used for.

Winner of the New York Drama Critics Circle award, A Raisin In The Sun opened on Broadway in 1959. Starring Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee, the play went on to become a critically acclaimed film two years later. A couple of seasons ago, it was back on Broadway in an acclaimed revival. It was also the basis for the Tony winning Best musical, Raisin.
