New Theatre continues its 2007-2008 New Voices Reading Series with

The Man in the Attic by Timothy Daly

The Man in the Attic by Timothy Daly will have a FREE play reading on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 7 pm, directed by City Theatre's Artistic Director, Stuart Meltzer.

The Man in the Attic is based on an incident that actually happened in Germany in the last months of War War II. Time and Setting: Ehrfurt, a small town in the north of Germany,  between Bremen and Hamburg, in the months leading up to the end of World War II and the Occupation Period in the American sector. Anna and Herman Moller are a German couple desperately trying to survive both hunger and despair when they come upon Daniel Blickman, an injured Jewish man.

Out of compassion for his plight and fear of discovery, they conceal Blickman in their attic.  A tender relationship blossoms between Anna and Daniel, while Herman realizes that Daniel is a very profitable guest.  Can Anna and Daniel's friendship survive when he realizes his stay as their "guest" has continued past the end of the war?
