Stage Aurora SEEKS STEPPERS, SINGERS, AND ACTORS; auditions for "FRAT HOUSE" take place Saturday and Sunday, June 9-10

Auditions will be held for steppers, singers, and actors for an original musical drama, "Frat House," according to Darryl Reuben Hall, executive director of Stage Aurora Theatrical Company, Inc. The actors should be able to portray students who are in their early twenties.

The auditions will be at the Jacksonville Center of the Arts, 2049 N. Pearl St., Jacksonville, from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 9, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 10.

"Frat House" will be performed at the Florida Theatre Aug. 17-18. Hall is also the playwright of the drama and says it will interweave a story of Thomas, the son of a pastor, learning how to balance party-life with the responsibilities of becoming a man.

A competition involving step dancing takes place in a fraternity at a historic black college.  Mixed with the musical about a prodigal son, Hall says, is the bonding that occurs among youths in a large group.

For more information, interested persons should call Stage Aurora at (904) 765-7372.

"Frat House" is sponsored in part by the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, the National Endowment for the Arts, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, Florida Arts Council, and the City of Jacksonville.
