Previewing Now - March 24

Official opening March 25

Carnival Studio Theater

Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and Broadway Across America-Miami proudly present the Miami premiere of Forbidden Broadway, a wickedly funny roast of Broadway musicals. Forbidden Broadway features outrageous costumes, lampooning songs and musical comedy performances celebrating Broadway's favorite shows and brightest stars. This limited engagement of New York's longest-running off-Broadway production features the New York cast in a special spring break edition.

Forbidden Broadway, a recipient of the 2006 Tony® Honor for Excellence in the Theatre, runs from March 25 - April 13 in the Carnival Studio Theater at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Show times are Tuesday through Friday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 5 and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 and 5 p.m. Tickets (reserved seating) are $45 for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings and $50 for Friday evening, both Saturday performances and the Sunday matinee, not including applicable service and handling charges. Tickets are available beginning Sunday, February 17 and can be purchased in person at The Arsht Center Box Office, by phone at 305.949.6722, or online at www.arshtcenter.org

This edition of Forbidden Broadway, specially designed for Miami audiences, features spoofs of Monty Python's Spamalot, Avenue Q, The Lion King, Wicked, Les Misérables, and Hairspray—all shows that have either played in South Florida or are coming this season.  Created and written by Gerard Alessandrini, Forbidden Broadway has received national acclaim and countless rave reviews, including an Obie Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, several Drama Desk Awards including Best Off-Broadway Musical in 2005.

Forbidden Broadway is required to take an annual hiatus every spring to enable its landlord, The Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, to perform its season. This hiatus allows the New York cast to appear in Miami this year. Featured in the cast are Jared Bradshaw, Janet Dickenson, Val Fagan, Michael West and Ron Roy on Piano.

Forbidden Broadway has performed to audiences worldwide with thousands of performances across the United States and engagements in London, Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney. The New York Daily News hails Forbidden Broadway as "Sly, delicious and viciously witty," and the Associated Press raves "The laughs come at breakneck speed! The jokes fly by so fast, you'll wish you could hit rewind!"

H.O.T. at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County offers full-time students and seniors (65 and over,) and members of the military Half-Off Tickets purchased on the day of performance. Must present current picture I.D. on day of show at The Arsht Center Box Office Window; 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Downtown Miami. Subject to availability of seats at time of purchase. Limit 1 ticket per purchase. The Arsht Center Box Office is open 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday-Friday; beginning at noon on weekends when there is a performance scheduled; and two hours before every performance.
