New York's longest-running musical comedy revue spoofs Broadway's biggest hits, including
Les Miz, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King, Hairspray, Spamalot, and Avenue Q

Citing an upsurge in tickets sales, excellent reviews, and the availability of the company to remain in Miami until its return to New York's 47th Street Theatre, the three-week run of FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, the Tony® Award-winning musical revue, originally scheduled through April 13, has been extended until Sunday, May 4, it was announced by Scott Shiller, interim executive vice president of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and Susie Krajsa, executive vice president of Broadway Across America-Miami.

"Prior to the opening of Forbidden Broadway in Miami, we had advance sales of  $120,000—three times what the show had last year before opening their Chicago engagement, which ended up extending several times," said Shiller. "It is clear that the Miami audiences have embraced this show, and we are proud that with today's three-week extension we are able to host a total run of seven weeks, setting an Arsht Center record. We thank the entire Forbidden Broadway Company for this great success and for agreeing to extend their Miami stay until May 4."

Currently celebrating its 25th anniversary year, Gerard Alessandrini's outrageous revue, which skewers Broadway's most popular shows, both old and new, has scored consistent national raves and theater's most coveted awards. In addition to the 2006 Tony®  Honor for Excellence in the Theatre, FORBIDDEN BROADWAY has won an Obie, Outer Critics Circle, and several Drama Desk Awards, including Best Off-Broadway Musical in 2005.

In the hands of performers Jared Bradshaw, Janet Dickinson, Gina Kreiezmar, Michael West and pianist Catherine Stornetta, no show or personality is safe, including such hits as Les Miserables, Wicked, Hairspray, The Lion King, and Avenue Q, and such all-time Broadway icons as Liza Minnelli, Chita Rivera, Mandy Patinkin, Patti LuPone, and Carol Channing

Specially designed for Miami audiences, this edition of FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, is presented by the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and Broadway Across America-Miami.

Show times are Tuesday through Friday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 5 and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 and 5 p.m. Tickets (reserved seating) are $45 for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings and $50 for Friday evening, both Saturday performances and the Sunday matinee, not including applicable service and handling charges.

Tickets can be purchased in person at the Adrienne Arsht Center Box Office, by phone at 305.949.6722, or online at www.arshtcenter.org.
