EL CIRCO DE ENRIQUETA Y AGAPITO
A SPANISH-LANGUAGE
PUPPET THEATER ADVENTURE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
January 5 @ 2 p.m.
All tickets $10
On Saturday, January 5, Carnival Center's Studio Theater presents El Circo de Enriqueta y Agapito, a Spanish-language puppet theater circus adventure for the whole family, with a story created by Argentine theater troupe Grupo Marionet. All tickets are $10.
"Enriqueta" and "Agapito," played by theater veterans Jessica Alvarez Diéguez and her husband, Alejandro Vales, wind up in a circus ruled by Frank, the evil animal tamer. There, they meet a host of four-legged creatures, jugglers, and clowns, and the adventure begins. Enriqueta devises a plan to free the animals in the circus and teach Frank a lesson about compassion, respect and love for one another.
A member of the family that started Grupo Marionet in 1957, Jessica Alvarez Dieguez was raised among marionettes and puppets. For 50 years, Grupo Marionet, which continues to be run by the Alvarez Dieguez family, has entertained and enriched the lives of children with whimsical adventures, colorful costumes and props, and a dedication to the art of making children laugh. They have toured throughout the United States and South America, presenting a variety of stage shows including the classic fable "Peter and the Wolf," with music by Sergei Prokofiev, and original productions such as Ruido de Fondo, El Sueño de Pulgarcito, El Soplador de Estrellas, Caperucita y los Marcianos, El Maravilloso Mundo de las Marionetas, and Narices Rojas.
