Eight-Time Tony Award-Winning Musical ONCE Opens This Week At Actors' Playhouse Image

Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre continues its milestone 30th Anniversary Season with Once, winner of eight 2012 Tony Awards including Best Musical, playing February 28 - March 25, 2018. Featuring an impressive ensemble of actor/musicians who play their own instruments onstage, the company's production will include members from the original Broadway cast as well as several actors who have performed the show regionally.

Once has book by award-winning Irish playwright and screenwriter Enda Walsh. Based on the 2007 motion picture written and directed by John Carney, music and lyrics are by Academy Award-winning Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová who, for "Falling Slowly," won the Oscar for Best Original Song. Having received the most nominations (35) in the 2012 theatre award season, Once went on to become the recipient of 21 awards, the most on Broadway that year. As well as winning eight Tony Awards including Best New Musical, Once was named Best Musical by the New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel Awards.

Once tells the enchanting tale of a Dublin street musician and the beautiful young woman who takes an interest in his haunting love songs. As the chemistry between them grows, his music soars to powerful new heights. Emotionally captivating and theatrically breathtaking, Once is an unforgettable story of reaching for your dreams and how music has the power to connect us all.
