Miami Performers to Showcase Talent

Does Miami have the next Susan Boyle? You can find out at Miami's talent competition, "Talent Quest Miami!" when performers take center stage at Miami Beach to show the rest of the world that, while Britain and America may have talent, we've got the best performers on the planet.

The judges for Talent Quest Miami! are the lovely Miami diva, Elaine Lancaster, and national concert producer, Roger Abramson; the third judge will soon be announced.

"Miami is a hotbed of talent that is sometimes overlooked because of our emphasis on bringing in outside talent. We want to show Miami and the world what a great diversity of talent has developed right here under our noses," said David Kingery, the Arts at St. Johns' artistic director, who came up with the brainstorm to put on the show.

"Our goal is to show the world the great talent residing here, so we're going to put on a great show with talented performers drawn from all ages, cultures, ethnicities, genres and lifestyles," he added. The talent can include singers, dancers, musicians, jugglers, impressionists, impersonators, poets and spoken word performers, contortionists, comedians, magicians, ventriloquists, and more.

Tickets are now on sale for the competition, which takes place on Saturday, July 25 at 8 p.m. at the Colony Theater. At the event, the best of the city's talent will perform in front of a panel of judges. The judges will vote on the best of the talent, but the audience will be the deciding vote. The winner will receive the $500 grand prize, and there will be second and third winners as well.

Talent Quest Miami begins with two weeks of preliminary auditions, where the audience and a panel of judges vote on each contestant's performance.  Then the 12 acts with the top number of votes go on to the finals at the Colony Theater.  The finalists will strut their stuff to convince the judges & audience that they are the best.

The free preliminaries take place on July 11 and 18 at the Arts at St. Johns in Miami Beach, 4760 PineTree in Miami Beach. The Colony Theater is located at 1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach. For tickets, go online to www.artsatstjohns.com or purchase at the Colony Theatre box office.
