Local celebrities light up the dance floor in Seaside Music Theater's

Daytona's Gotta Dance ballroom dance competition.

Seven local celebrities – three men and four women – attempt to outshine one another on Saturday, August 9 at the News-Journal Center.  Be a part of the dance craze that has swept the nation as Seaside Music Theater presents Daytona's Gotta Dance, a starlit night of ballroom dancing to benefit the theater. You be the judge of seven local celebs who will be paired with professional dancers and attempt to out-Fox Trot the competition.

The dancers will strut their stuff before a live audience with their professional partners provided by Quanita's Ballroom, Fred Astaire Dance Studios, Floor Play Dance, as well as freelance dance professionals. The cast boasts a Mayor, a Magazine Publisher, an Orthopaedic Surgeon, a Realtor, and several other Professionals in the Volusia County area.

There are three options for tickets. The first one is $100 per person and includes a dinner buffet and cash bar in the lobby beginning at 6 p.m., prime theater seating for the show, four ballot votes and a glimpse of the dancers before curtain. The second option is $50 and includes theater seating for the show at 8 p.m. and a FREE ticket to Walk-In, Dance-Out w/Quanita Aug. 23rd. The third option is $25 per person and includes the show only beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets may be purchased (by cash or check only) at the News-Journal Center box office, 221 N. Beach Street, Daytona Beach. Box office hours are Monday – Friday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The judges - Betty Jane France from the Daytona International Speedway, Jeffrey Swendsen from La Crepe en Haut, Bonnie Meyers who is a recognized adjudicator for professional/amateur and medal certifications, and Alberto and Selena Hoyos with Rhythmic Harmony International and US representatives to the World Argentine Tango – will be on hand as expert commentators to dissect the performances and artistic content.

Viewers will be asked to vote on the overall performance: dancing, choreography, costume and choice of music. Votes will be sold at $5 per or five for $20. You may purchase votes for your favorite dancer prior to the show, as well as the night of the event.

The emcee will be Dave Laing from WNDB Radio.
