"It's nearly November, which means the start of holiday high times in Delray Beach," says Stephen Chrisanthus, Associate Director of the Delray Beach Marketing Cooperative. "The season comes to full swing next month with a number of popular events."

The festivities start Friday, November 3, when the City of Delray Beach invites the public to a community-wide gathering in celebration of the 2017 All-America City award at the Old School Square Pavilion. Festivities will kick-off with remarks by Mayor Cary Glickstein and other city officials. During the celebration, attendees can also look forward to giveaways and a giant cake cutting ceremony. In partnership with Old School Square, the N2 Nation, a fabulous Motown Tribute band, will take the stage at 7:30 pm. The concert and celebration are free and open to the public.

This year, Delray Beach was recognized and distinguished with its third All-America City award at the National Civic League conference. Delray Beach is the only city in the state of Florida to win this prestigious honor three times.

"This is a very important win for the City," according to Janet Meeks, Education Coordinator. "This award is the equivalent to the Good Housekeeping seal of approval for companies and families looking to relocate to Delray Beach."

The Annual Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic runs November 3-5. This year renowned mental health professional and host of ABC's top-rated daytime talk show, "Dr. Phil" will headline a list of celebrities for the 28th annual event that include first-time participants Robin Givens (ABC's "Head of the Class") and Tate Donovan (DirecTV "Damages") and 2016 attendees David Cook (ABC's "American Idol"), Timothy Olyphant (FX's "Justified"), Jamie McShane ("Bloodline" on Netflix) and longtime Evert friend Maeve Quinlan (CBS's "The Bold and Beautiful. Steve Doocy ("Fox & Friends") and sports star Helio Castroneves (IndyCar) have also played in past events.

Guest tennis pros joining Evert include fellow International Hall of Famer Martina Navratilova, four-time doubles Olympian Rennae Stubbs, former French Open doubles champion Luke Jensen, and a pair of Boca Raton residents: former world No. 4 Sebastien Grosjean and University of Florida standout Jesse Levine, who also played on the ATP World Tour.

The event kicks off with a pair of events on Friday (Nov. 3) at the Boca Raton Resort & Club-a morning Pro-Am and evening cocktail party-and includes a Saturday evening Gala (Nov. 4) featuring dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions at the Boca Resort. Slash Fitness /// Performance, ROAD iD, Grimes Events and Party Tents invites people to join them for the 31st Annual Delray Beach Turkey Trot on November 18, 2017 at Anchor Park in Delray Beach. The 5K race begins at 7:30 am, and participants will get to run/walk down scenic A1A and receive a custom Delray Beach Turkey Trot medal. All registered participants will receive commemorative T-shirts. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Keith Straghn Feed the Hungry Thanksgiving Drive. Organizers will also be collecting nonperishable food items at the race for donation.

The month ends with a big finish - real BIG - on November 30 with the Lighting of the Famous 100ft Christmas Tree. Festivities begin at 5 pm in Old School Square Park. A month long celebration kicks off with Santa lighting the unique 100ft Christmas Tree at 7:15 pm, following which Santa will be available for photos.

Visitors can enjoy ice-skating, Putt'n Around Mini Golf & Carousel and much more. Event is free, although some activities have a nominal fee.

"This year the Delray Beach Marketing Cooperative (DBMC) is encouraging everyone to be big and give back. We are lucky in Delray Beach; but many in our community still struggle, as do those affected by this year's hurricanes," says Stephanie Immelman, Executive Director of the DBMC. "The Famous 100ft Christmas Tree is BIG - and Delray needs to be big, too!"

The DBMC is partnering with non-profits to foster a sense of giving back this year. The community's favorite causes will be out in full force at the Tree Lighting and will represented all during the month of December at the Famous 100 Foot Christmas Tree," she adds, encouraging people to "think about how they want to give back - and get back to the true meaning of the holidays."
