LAST CHANCE TO SEE WHITE ORCHARD THEATER'S COMPELLING ORIGINAL DRAMA CYNTHIA'S BIRTHDAY AT MIAMINTELLIGENCE

Just two opportunities remain for intelligent theater-goers to see Cynthia's Birthday, the original psychological drama by Irina Sundukova, artistic director of the critically-acclaimed White Orchard Theater (WOT). Written in the dramatic tradition of Tennessee Williams and Harold Pinter, the play is the final offering of the WOT's 2005 Summer Shorts season. The September 9 and 17, 2005 performances begin at 8 p.m. at MIAMIntelligence in Coconut Grove (

2000 South Dixie Highway
/>-US1, Miami/>, FL/>, 33133/>/>).

Following each performance, attendees are invited to stay for a cocktail party and intellectual discussion. For tickets, call (305) 331-1293. Major credit cards accepted. Prices per ticket are $20 (including cocktail party admission).

Are second chances possible? Cynthia's Birthday asks its audience to consider this all-important question as it takes them on an emotional journey with a divorced couple who meet five years after their marriage has ended on the occasion of their daughter's birthday. As their conversation becomes more and more penetrating, it culminates in an insightful, unforgettable moment of truth. A fascinatingly rich portrait of the modern family, the play is filled with the turmoil of raw emotion and imbued with a sly undertone of comedy. Like life, it is by turns tragic and hopeful as it leads to the critical moment of possible redemption.

The White Orchard Theater (WOT) is a revolutionary creative company established in South Florida/> in response to the growing demand for high-quality intellectual entertainment. Incorporating fresh ideas from around the world, the WOT is a uniquely radical professional theater company. As Talkin' Broadway critic John Lariviere proclaimed: "In a regional scene filled with theatres clamoring over one another to obtain the rights to the latest and hottest of Broadway shows…the White Orchard Theater has emerged."
