WHITE ORCHARD THEATER PROUDLY PRESENTS

CYNTHIA'S BIRTHDAY,

A COMPELLING AND RIVETING NEW DRAMA,

IN ITS SOUTH FL. PREMIERE TOUR AT THE ETRA GALLERY, MIAMINTELLIGENCE, AND WALLFLOWER GALLERY

MIAMI (July 14,2005) – Recently-established, popularly- and critically-acclaimed White Orchard Theater (WOT) is excited to announce its upcoming production of Cynthia's Birthday, an original psychological drama. The short play will make its stand as art with its debut at the Etra Gallery in the Design District (56 N.E. 40th Street, Miami, FL, 33137) on Saturday, July 16, 2005, at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) A cocktail reception/intellectual discussion will follow the performance. The play will then be performed at MIAMIntelligence in Coconut Grove (2000 South Dixie Highway, Miami, FL, 33133) on Friday, July 29, 2005, at 8 p.m. A cocktail party/intellectual discussion will also follow this performance. It will next be performed again at MIAMIntelligence on Saturday, August 13, 2005, at 8 p.m., with cocktail following. It will also be performed at the Wallflower Gallery (10 N.E. 3rd Street, Miami, FL 33132) on Sunday, August 14, 2005, at 8 p.m., along with live music/discussion to follow. For tickets to performances, call (305) 331-1293 (all major credit cards accepted). Price per ticket for first 3 shows (includes cocktail reception/party): $20; for fourth show: $10.

Drawing on a combination of the dramatic tradition of both Tennessee Williams and Harold Pinter, Cynthia's Birthday confronts the audience with a challenging question: are second chances possible in relationships and, indeed, in life? Taking place over the course of one night, the play depicts a divorced couple who meet five years after their marriage has ended, on the occasion of their daughter's birthday. Gradually, their conversation becomes more and more penetrating and insightful, culminating in an unforgettable moment of truth. Imbued with a sly undertone of comedy, the play is a fascinatingly rich portrait of a family's emotional turmoil, and its potential redemption.
