BROWARD COUNTY , FL – Broward County Commission's Cultural Division invites interested participants to a Mini-Grant Program Grantwriting Workshop, offered on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at 11:00 am, and again at 7:00 pm, in the Broward County Main Library, Bienes Center Conference Room, 6th Floor, 100 S. Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. The purpose of this workshop is specifically for assisting mini-grant grant applicants through the process of preparing their submission. This is not a general grant writing workshop.
The Mini-Grant Program is geared to assist eligible not-for-profit, cultural organizations in Broward County, with annual operating revenues of less than $100,000 to fund small, cultural projects for which applicants have not received grant monies through any other Cultural Division program. The program provides emerging arts and community-based cultural organizations with grant support. "This workshop provides an excellent opportunity for cultural organizations to obtain first-hand knowledge on developing a successful, mini-grant application," says Mary A. Becht, director of Broward County's Cultural Division.
Eligible cultural organizations must be registered with the Florida Secretary of State as a not-for-profit corporation, and must have provided services in Broward County for a minimum of six months following the date of incorporation. They must have operated in their discipline(s) in Broward County for a minimum of one uninterrupted year following incorporation. The project must be an exhibition, a performance, or other arts activity.
Mini-Grant awards are up to $2,000 per award, on a funds-available basis. An eligible cultural organization may apply for up to three Mini-Grants during the County's fiscal year. Total Mini-Grant funding to any organization may not exceed $5,000 annually. T he next Mini-Grant Program application deadline is June 1, 2006, for projects implemented August 1 – September 30, 2006, or following fiscal year.
