Mini-Grant Program Grant Writing Workshop
First Cycle to Be Held On September 6
Offered in TWO separate sessions at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm in the Broward County Main Library
BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Broward County Commission's Cultural Division invites interested participants from the community to a 'Mini-Grant Program' grant writing workshop offered TWICE on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, in the Broward County Main Library, 100 S. Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. The workshop will be offered at 11:00 am on the 6th floor in the Bienes Conference Room, and AGAIN at 7:00 pm on the 8th floor in room 8C.
The purpose of the Mini-Grant Program is to assist eligible Broward County not-for-profit cultural organizations with annual operating revenues of less than $100,000, to fund small cultural projects for which applicants have not received grant monies through any other Cultural Division program. The project must be an exhibition, a performance, or other arts activity. "This workshop provides an excellent opportunity for cultural organizations to obtain first-hand knowledge on constructing a grant application with maximum chances of success," says Mary A. Becht, director of Broward County Cultural Division.
Organizations must be registered with the Florida Secretary of State as a cultural, not-for-profit corporation. They must have operated in their discipline(s) in Broward County for a minimum of one uninterrupted year following incorporation; and must have provided services in Broward County for a minimum of six months following the date of incorporation.
Mini-grant awards are up to $2,000 per award, on a funds-available basis. An eligible cultural organization may apply for up to three Mini-Grants during the County's fiscal year. Total Mini-Grant funding to any organization may not exceed $5,000 annually. The next Mini-Grant Program application deadline is October 1, 2006, for projects implemented after December 1, 2006.
Pending approval by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, modifications to increase the award size for eligible cultural, not-for-profits, and the addition of an individual artist applicant category to the Mini-Grant Program, will become effective in Fiscal Year 2007.
Registration is available online at www.broward.org/arts and click on "Workshops." For more information, please call James Shermer, grants administrator, 954-357-7502, e-mail jshermer@broward.org; or Susan Schultz, grants assistant, 954-357-6704, e-mail schultz@broward.org.
