(Lucie Arnaz)

According to Shelly Spivack, chair of Florida's legendary Coconut Grove Playhouse, "The Playhouse will reopen tonight."  (Kindly see prior columns we have posted today, about the 'closing' of the legendary Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami.)

At today's emergency Board meeting held at the Beacon Council, Board members and 'Sonia Flew' star Lucie Arnaz spent hours discussing and finding remedies for the financially failing playhouse; as well as its current production of 'Sonia Flew,' starring Ms. Arnaz and her daughter Katherine.

It was revealed at the meeting that the Playhouse is about 4 million dollars in debt.  This has forced the cancellation of the Broward performances of 'Sonia Flew.'  'Sonia Flew' had been scheduled to play the Parker Playhouse May 9-14, following its run at the Grove.

Chair, Shelly Spivack credits Arnaz with helping to raise the funds to keep the Coconut Grove Playhouse afloat.

While officially 're-opened,' 'Sonia Flew' plays at the Coconut Grove Playhouse starting April 18 and is scheduled to close on May 7.
