Centre Theater Fundraiser Announced for 10/28

The Centre Theater, the professional theater company at the Montgomery County Cultural Center, will hold their Fall Festival on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 5:30 - 9:00 PM at Savior Hall, 410 Airy Street, Norristown, PA. The event will have live music, singers, a sneak peak at an upcoming world premiere play, food, drinks and more. Awards will be given out to Stan Huskey from the Times Herald and State Representative Mike Vereb for their support of the Montgomery County Cultural Center.

The Centre Theater is celebrating the beginning of our 17th year of theater and arts education in Downtown Norristown. Tickets support the theater and children's programs and help grow the arts in Norristown. Advanced purchase tickets at $35 for one, two for $60 or a table of 10 for $250. (Tickets will be available at the door for $35 each) With each ticket, there will be a chance to win a Season Pass for two to our theater shows, children's shows, festivals and special events (Valued at over $500.00).

The live performances include singers KrisSy Johnson and Dorien Belle. The Cast of Maroons - The Anthracite Gridiron will perform a short sneak peak of the play that opens the following week at the Centre Theater. Dave Morrison will perform on the guitar and singers Marissa Garcia-Kaliner and Jordyn Avery will also perform. Accompanist Nancy Chronister will play throughout the evening.

There will be an amazing array of items for Silent Auction. Plans for our current renovations and new marquee sign will be on display. Information on the expansion of the theater will be available. Come see how the arts will grow in Norristown.

The Centre Theater at the Montgomery County Cultural Center, located in downtown Norristown, provides affordable, quality professional theater and arts education. By providing quality programs, we are bringing the arts to our community as well as to communities in the Greater Delaware Valley area.

The Centre Theater houses two local award winning companies. The Centre Theater, in collaboration with Iron Age Theatre, has been called "Norristown's Theatrical Treasure" presenting challenging, well-crafted, thoughtful theater that have been nominated for Barrymore awards for Terra Nova, The Elephant Man and last season's Molumby's Millions. Mark Cofta wrote that the Centre Theater and "Iron Age Theatre keep defying the odds, producing quality plays with loving care". The Centre Theater hosts WALLA FEST, which spotlights local musical talent and provides a chance for emerging artists to work in front of a paying audience. The Centre Theater's children's summer program has also received a nomination for a Barrymore Award. The Centre Theater provides a professional theatrical venue in Norristown for many groups including space for Theater Horizon. Theater Horizon recently won four Barrymore awards for their production of The Putnam Valley Spelling Bee staged at the Centre Theater.

The Montgomery County Cultural Center is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to bringing the arts to a broad audience, educating young people in an appreciation of the arts and the artistic spirit in themselves and revitalizing the Montgomery County region. Our 75 seat professional theatre space, The Centre Theater, produces a three show main stage season as well as smaller studio works. The theater is located on the 4th floor of our building, with elevator access.
