Burt Reynolds Institute Opens In North Palm Beach ImageWhile the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre has struggled in recent years to find a home they could really call their own, the staff, students and volunteers never gave up on that dream. With the opening of their new location in North Palm Beach, they have proven that good things do come to those who wait.

Located in the Village Shoppes of North Palm Beach, the intimate space provides students who wish to hone their acting, improvisation, writing and filmmaking skills a supportive environment in which to challenge themselves and grow in confidence. The Institute also has a black box theatre, where shows featuring original material written by emerging playwrights will be produced. The goal is to offer Florida residents an opportunity to become a part of the process of creating a new play. Each production will be followed by a talkback with the author(s) during which audience members will be encouraged to share their thoughts. In a recent interview, Managing Director/playwright/novelist Donna Carbone said, "There is a huge difference between a critique and criticism. An honest critique can go far to help an author improve upon a written work. Criticism serves no purpose whatsoever. We value input from a discerning audience."

The address for the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre is: 133 U.S. Highway One, Suite 115, North Palm Beach, Florida 33408. The Institute is only open when classes are in session or when a production is being mounted.

To sign up for the Institute's newsletter, drop an email to info@burtreynoldsinstitute.org or visit their website at www.burtreynoldsinstitute.org. If you would like more information on classes, call 561 743-9955. Currently, the Institute offers classes in acting, scene study and character development, audition preparation, improvisation, teleprompter proficiency, writing for novel/stage/screen for adults and their unique Young Hemingway's writing class for children ages 10-14.
