The ALLIANCE THEATRE Lab closes its season with Lanford Wilson's passionate, fiery drama, Burn This.

Burn This takes place in a New York City loft shared by Anna, a dancer/choreographer, Robbie, her collaborator, and Larry, an advertising executive. The play opens when Anna has just attended Robbie's funeral after a freak boating accident costs him and his partner their lives. The comfort she gets from her well-to-do boyfriend, Burton, a science fiction screenwriter only makes matters more uncomfortable due to the fact that she doesn't reciprocate his proposals of commitment.

Then in comes Jimmy better known as Pale; a frenetic restaurant owner who also happens to be Robbie's older brother. He has come to pick up Robbie's belongings, which disturbs Anna. Due to his hyperactive energy, Anna and Pale clash; therefore bringing sexual tension, fears of intimacy, and other hidden secrets up to a boiling point that affects them and those around them.

Burn This was commissioned by Circle Repertory Company and opened on Broadway in 1987 after its Off-Broadway premiere. It featured Joan Allen portraying Anna and John Malkovich as Pale. Newsweek called Malkovich's first entrance "sensational" comparing it to Marlon Brando in A Streetcar Named Desire.

Lanford Wilson, a Missouri native started his career with the Off-Broadway movement in the 1960's while writing such works as Balm in Gilead and The Rimers of Eldrich. He was a founding member of The Circle Repertory Company when it started in 1969. Other works include Hot L Baltimore, Fifth of July, Talley's Folly, and Talley and Son, the latter three a trilogy focusing on a family in Wilson's hometown.

The ALLIANCE THEATRE Lab production of Burn This will open Thursday, April 5th and will conclude Sunday, April 22nd. For more information, please call (305) 567-2721 or e-mail thealliancelab@aol.com.
