Broward artists interested in applying for the Call to Artists for the Broward 100 Mural Projectin Broward 100 - Celebrating the Art of Community, are encouraged to attend one of two workshops on how to submit an electronic application in response to this Call to Artists. The workshops will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Main Library, Cybrary, 100 S. Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale; and Thursday, April 24, 5 - 6 p.m. at the West Regional Library Computer Center, 8601 W. Broward Blvd., in Plantation.

Broward Cultural Division is seeking to commission multiple professional artists or artist teams to design and implement nine or more murals in celebration of Broward County's centennial, Broward 100 - Celebrating the Art of Community. Broward artists will be selected for the project through a unique partnership among Broward Cultural Division, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Community Foundation of Broward. The murals will be located in prominent outdoor locations throughout the county. The selected artists will be responsible for creating and implementing a community engagement plan. Artist selection will be based on the merit of artist's past work as well as their ability to implement community engagement activities. The application deadline is May 4 at 11:59 p.m.

Broward 100 will commemorate the centennial with bold, innovative art and performance projects that attract visitors and bring Broward residents together using our arts, sports and recreation venues, natural attractions and incredible diversity to creatively bridge, bond and build their communities. The yearlong celebration will be framed by four distinct cornerstones of community engagement: VisualEYES, Inside Out Broward, Calendar 100 and a culminating event. The goal of Broward 100 Mural Project, a component of VisualEYES, is to create murals that are located in all sectors of the community, that are a tribute to Broward County, and for the visual arts to be recognized as essential to a strong community.

The workshops will provide an overview of the Call to Artists, guide artists through the on-line application process and answer individual questions. There will also be an opportunity to meet other interested artists; artist teams are encouraged to apply. To view a full version of the Call to Artists, as well as more details about the location criteria, visit the Cultural Division website. RSVP online for these free workshops: Main Library RSVP; West Regional RSVP.
