Broadway Choreographer of Anastasia and GGTLAM ADAM CATES Coming to Area Stage Company

The Area Stage Theatre Company, a non-profit theatre and conservatory, is proud to announce that Broadway Choreographer Adam Cates is coming to Miami to conduct a lecture, workshop and to choreograph a number for the upcoming production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

Adam Cates has worked in the areas of theater, opera, television and concert. He is the associate choreographer for the Tony-nominated Broadway hit Anastasia and Tony Award-winning A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder ("Best Musical" 2014) and Anything Goes ("Best Revival" & Best Choreography" 2011), and has worked in critically acclaimed productions for The Juilliard Opera at Lincoln Center, New York Musical Theatre Festival and Feinstein's/54 Below. Cates is the co-writer and choreographer of The World According to Snoopy, which has played in Theater Under the Stars in Houston and Theatre Aspen and plans to launch a U.S tour very soon. Cates has been educator for more than 20 years who has taught and inspired generations of artists across the country and regions such as Spain and Canada.

LECTURE: Friday, November 3rd at 6:30pm. Mr. Cates will explore vital information for students and performers seeking a career in the entertainment industry. It is opened to the general public and will be followed by a Q&A. $25 general admission and $15 for students.

ANASTASIA MUSICAL THEATER WORKSHOP: Saturday, November 4th (9:00am to 12:00pm) Mr. Cates will conduct a workshop based on his original choreography for the musical Anastasia. Limited space, $75.

COLLEGE AUDITION WORKSHOP: Sunday, November 5th (10:00am to 12:00pm), with accompanist Steve Saari. Mr. Saari has performed at the piano for audiences across North America, Europe, Asia, and the high seas. Steve's credits include Broadway and national tours, The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and Royal Caribbean International. Steve completed his training at the prestigious Juilliard School after earning degrees in music and performance from Belmont University and the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Limited space, $100.
