Back by popular demand, Steven Brinberg (Winner of New York City Mac and Bistro Award for Best Cabaret) returns to the Rising Action as everyone's favorite diva, Barbra Streisand -- with a NEW show that salutes Oscar-winning songs.

Simply Barbra Salutes the Oscars plays February 19, 2009 to March 15, 2009

Performances for Mr. Brinberg will be Thursday at 8 pm; Friday and Saturday at 9:30 pm; and Sunday at a time to be announced.

Steven Brinberg wrote and stars as SIMPLY BARBRA which he constantly updates as he travels the globe with the show. A native New Yorker, Steven began the show there where it had a record breaking 5 year run and played major rooms in New York as well as across America in cities such as Los Angeles, (Cinegrill, Gardenia) San Francisco, (Rrazz Room, Plush Room, New Conservatory Theatre) Chicago, (Davenport's) Las Vegas, (Starbright Theatre)Philadelphia, (Walnut Street Theatre) Miami Beach, (Colony Theatre) and many others

For almost a decade, Steven has toured with Marvin Hamlisch in guest appearances with Symphony Orchestras including The Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Pittsburgh,(also featuring Barbara Cook) Oklahoma City, Denver, Milwaukee, Buffalo, Norfolk,Dallas, and Ft Worth.

Terrence McNally wrote the narration for Steven to read as Barbra at the Gay Men's Chorus Concert at Lincoln Center. He sang with them as well at Carnegie Hall. An appearance at Stephen Sondheim's birthday concert at the Library of Congress was followed by a run at DC's Signature Theatre. An all star concert of FUNNY GIRL on Broadway also featured Steven and many stars, including Whoopi Goldberg.

Internationally SIMPLY BARBRA has toured all over the UK including Manchester, Brighton, Edinburgh, Glasgow and several West End runs at the Playhouse, Arts, Prince of Wales , Jermyn Street, and Soho Revue Bar.

Steven has performed as Barbra at special events and parties for the likes of Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas, Lauren Bacall, Joan Rivers and for Streisand's friend Donna Karan at the request of Ms. Streisand.

On film he can be seen in CAMP (wait till the end credits) BOYS LIFE and NEXT YEAR IN JERUSALEM, all on DVD. TV appearances include Rosie O'Donnell, Jerry Springer (a gentle episode) Sally Jesse Raphael, The Bert Show, The Denise Show, Good News Week and Mornings With Kerri Anne. Steven did the voice of David Spade on MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch.

Simply Barbra will play at Rising Action Theatre 840 E Oakland Park Blvd in Fort Lauderdale 33334. It will run from Feb 19 - March 15 and will play at 9:30 pm Thursday through Saturday; Sundays at 3 pm except for Sunday March 1 when the show is at 7 pm. It runs concurrently with Say You Love Satan.
