A study of desire and power presented by White Orchard Theater.
The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant, an astonishing women's play, with emotions on an operatic scale, which explores the tortured connections between desire and power.
It unfolds the story of Petra von Kant (Cristina Morrison), a successful but arrogant fashion designer in her mid-30s who falls passionately in love with Karin (Christina Vila), a beautiful, cunning young woman who wants a career in modeling.
Although this remains one of Fassbinder's most controversial plays, it is also one of his most powerful, for both its volcanic emotional force and the unparalleled visual imagination it displays.
Even though the play features only women, it explores a basic human dilemma: What happens when you feel desire but are incapable of connecting emotionally with another person?

This is the third play produced by White Orchard Theater, after having successful performances of well-known and popularly-acclaimed "Kreutzer Sonata" and "Cynthia's Birthday."  "As a modern director I am looking for truly controversial pieces which explore the depth of human emotions and colorful sides of complex psychology. I run away from stereotypes, working on my own alternative artistic style which people like a lot." – affirms WOT Artistic Director, Irina Sundukova. "The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant" is so rich a work that you may find yourself answering many important personal questions differently each time you see it. Few plays so creatively, and powerfully, manage to subvert our desire for cathartic drama while simultaneously fulfilling it.
