Wop-Baba-Lu-Bop-Ahh-Wop-Bam-BOOM! Grease is the word and our season opener (October 1 – November 13, 2005). It's the musical that broke the record in 1979 as the longest running show on Broadway! Music, Lyrics and Book by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, Grease is packed with explosive energy, vibrant 1950's pop culture and all those unforgettable songs, including "Summer Nights," "We Go Together", "You're The One That I Want," and "Greased Lightnin'." John Travolta and Olivia Newton–John starred in the 1978 film version. Join wholesome Sandy and greaser Danny, those groovy T-Birds, sassy Pink Ladies and the whole gang at Rydell High for this high-octane rock 'n roll party! Johnny Guitar the Musical (November 30, 2005-December 18, 2005) is an outrageous send-up of all Westerns! "A really fun musical! You will enjoy the daylights out of it! Kids will love it, too," says WOR Radio. Loosely based on the 1954 Joan Crawford film and Winner of the 2004 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical (Off-Broadway), Johnny Guitar the Musical takes the old west through Hollywood's lens and turns it on its ear. Book by Nicholas van Hoogstragen, Music by Martin Silvestri and Joel Higgins, and Lyrics by Joel Higgins. Where the men were tough and the women were Joan Crawford, the west was never this much fun!
Making its Pre-Broadway debut (January 11-February 12, 2006) comes a delightful romantic comedy that follows two gals from Brooklyn who spend an unforgettable Labor Day weekend in 1960 at a wacky Catskills resort. The Full Monty takes the Miracle Theatre stage March 8-April 9, 2006. Book by Terrence McNally with Music and Lyrics by David Yazbek, the Broadway smash hit musical comedy tells the story of two unemployed friends who stumble upon a Chippendales-like show and decide with the help of four other unlikely candidates that they too would like to give it a go. However, they can't dance and aren't what most would call good physical specimens. This hilarious new musical became one of the hottest tickets on Broadway in the last several years. "A huge hit - a rock 'em, sock 'em, 'take it off, baby' good time with heart," raves Jim Farber of the Daily Breeze.
Looking for love in all the wrong restaurants? Five Course Love (May 3-June 4, 2006) is a delicious new musical composed of five vignettes which look at the many faces of love: love attempted, love gone bad, love mismatched, love misguided, love denied and, inevitably, love achieved! Actors' Playhouse celebrates its 10th anniversary at the Miracle Theatre commemorating it public private partnership with the City of Coral Gables to build the historic Miracle Theatre into a three-stage performing arts center. The Decade Doo-Wop Celebration will be held at the Biltmore Hotel on Sunday, November 13, 2005. The theatre is affiliated with Actor's Equity Association and produces year round musicals, comedies and children theatre productions, and offers a full range of classes for all experience levels.
