Bay Street Players will hold auditions for the Tony Award-winning The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on November 29th and December 5th at 7:30PM at 109 N. Bay Street, Eustis. Artistic Director David Clevinger is looking for an ethnically diverse cast of 4 men and 5 women (adults only). Newcomers are welcome. Those auditioning are requested, but not required, to prepare a musical selection, preferably in the style of the production, and to bring sheet music in their key. An accompanist will be provided. In addition, some may be asked to read selections from the script. Anyone not interested in performing onstage is invited to join our team of volunteers and to learn of backstage opportunities needed for this production.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a multi-award winning musical by Rachel Sheinkin with music and lyrics by William Finn. The show centers around a fictional spelling bee in Putnam County, New York. Six kids face off in the battle of their lives. They compete against each other as well as members of the audience. Three adults help adjudicate the proceedings: a nostalgic former spelling bee winner, a mildly insane Vice Principal and The Official Comfort Counselor completing his community service to the state of New York. *Note: This play contains adult language and content. While the spellers are children they will played by adult actors.
