Barry University is welcoming back alumnus and Academy Award winning writer Alex Dinelaris, of Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), to the Broad Auditorium on January 30. Dinelaris will be joined by Grammy sensation and Miami powerhouse Gloria Estefan, Academy Award nominee Danny Aiello and actor Matthew Rauch (Cinemax's hit show Banshee) for a dynamic Broadway-style reading of his play, Still Life. Estefan and Aiello headline this cast of film and Broadway professional actors as well as South Florida actresses Betsy Graver and Tonya Bravo.

Directed by John Manzelli & Alex Dinelaris

The play is centered on a photographer, Carrie Ann, who inexplicably shuts down at the pinnacle of her career. Lost, and afraid to even pick up her camera, her sudden descent is interrupted by an unexpected romance with Jeff, a trend analyst who becomes determined to help her move on, even while facing his own uncertain future.

The January 30 reading is open to the public and will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Barry University's Shepard & Ruth K. Broad Performing Arts Center located at 11300 NE 2nd Avenue in Miami Shores. General admission tickets are $20. VIP tickets, which include a reception with the cast, are $100. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit https://www.barry.edu/75/still-life/

In addition to the reading, Barry has invited high school students and drama teachers from throughout South Florida to take part in an inside the actors studio forum and workshop with Dinelaris on January 29. The workshops will be presented by Barry University Theatre faculty Dr. Hugh Murphy (Associate Professor of Theatre) & John Manzelli (Former Artistic Director of City Theatre and Associate Professor of Theatre).
