The Waterfront Playhouse continues their smash 71st season with the Broadway hit, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" opening Thursday, March 3 and running to March 26th. Nominated for 10 Tony Awards, this funny musical has a book by Jeffrey Lane and music and lyrics by David Yazbek. "Theatrical pizzazz!" says The Daily News. "Scoundrels" is directed by WFPH artistic director Danny Weathers, with musical direction by Michael Fauss and choregraphy by Penny Leto and Christine Marguerite, the same team responsible for such hits as "Reefer Madness," "Urinetown" and last year's "The Full Monty," which sold-out every performance.

"Scoundrels" features a stellar cast in a show that will have audiences laughing, humming and guessing. The New York Post calls it "one of the liveliest, funniest musicals in years.""Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" is sponsored by Rudy Molinet and Marquis Properties Realty, with the gala opening night party sponsored by Nikki McCausland and catered by Conch Republic Seafood.

"Scoundrels" is based on the popular 1988 film starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin. It centers on two con men plying their trade on the French Riviera: Lawrence Jameson cons ladies, while Freddy Benson cons dames. Both are uproariously unscrupulous. After meeting on a train, they soon realize that their small town isn't big enough for both of them. They make a bet to see who can be the first to swindle a young heiress out of $50,000. The winner gets the dough and the loser has to leave town. What ensues is a scenario of bawdy fun that includes outrageous schemes, masquerades and double crosses. The Wall Street Journal raves, "This show is a perfect hoot! Wonderfully entertaining!"

The cast is led by Michael Mulligan (Equus, Amadeus, My Fair Lady) as Lawrence and Eric Cole (Lend Me A Tenor, The Full Monty) as Freddy, the two con men. Kristen Michelle (Reefer Madness, Musical of Musicals) plays Christine Colgate, the target of their bet. J. B. McLendon (aka Gassy Winds and credits from Broadway) plays Andre Thibault, Lawrence's wily French assistant and the chief of police. Gayla Morgan (Short Attention Span Theater, many concerts) plays Muriel Eubanks, a divorcee and willing prey seeking romance and adventure. Traci Reynolds (The Full Monty) plays Jolene Oakes, a spitfire oil heiress from Oklahoma who is the unsuspecting victim when the boys first team-up. The busy ensemble is made up of triple threats who play various supporting roles: David Black, Carolyn Cooper, Marc Crow, Rhett Kalman, Jessica Miano Kruel, Joe McMurray, Maggie Meier, Ruben Navarro and Amy Ray.

The orchestra includes Michael Fauss on keyboards, as well as Nancy Hoffman on keyboards, George Hemunds on reeds, Jim Witt on bass and Max Zemanovic on percussion.

Michael Boyer will create the multiple sets that will transport the audience to the French Riviera. Jose Rivera has designed the costumes, with coordination by Leigh Hooten and assistance from Ruth Cahoon and Carmen Rodriguez. Kim Hanson will design the lighting and Lisa Alderdice acts as stage manager.
