The Pembroke Pines Theatre of The Performing Arts recently had a fine success with their production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Their next show to be presented is another Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, THE KING AND I.
Created as a vehicle for the original Mrs. Anna, Gertrude Lawrence, THE KING AND I has become known as the centerpiece of Yul Brenner's career, for his powerful performance as the King. He won a Best Supporting Tony Award for his performance. In the subsequent film version, he received the Best Actor Oscar for playing the king Of Siam.
THE KING AND I is filled with Rodgers and Hammerstein masterpices such as 'Whistle A Happy Tune,' 'Getting To Know You,' 'Something Wonderful,' 'Hello Young Lovers,' and the showstopping 'Shall We Dance.'
Audition for THE KING AND I will be held on:
January 15th and 16th at the River of Grass Artspark (Susan Katz Theatre)
17195 Sheridan Street - Pembroke Pines, Florida 33029 (Located 1 mile west of I-75 on Sheridan Street)
Please come the date that would best fit your schedule, there is no need to register in advance. Kindly check the theatre's website to confirm exact times for auditions.
Callbacks will be on January 23rd.
First rehearsal/cast orientation will be January 28th.
