LAKE WORTH PLAYHOUSE HOLDING
OPEN AUDITIONS FOR NUNSENSE

Open auditions for the musical comedy Nunsense will be held at 7:00 p.m. on November 3 and 4 at the Lake Worth Playhouse, 713 Lake Avenue in Downtown Lake Worth. Callbacks will be held at 7:00 p.m. on November 5.

The Playhouse is seeking women of all ages and all physical types to play the following roles:

  • Sister Mary Regina - seemingly a model Mother Superior but, in reality, an outrageous, quick- witted soul with a bark that's worse than her bite.
  • Sister Mary Hubert - a kind and understanding nun who, with the slightest bit of encouragement, is ready to kick up her heels. (Looking for an African American actress to play this part; must have a gospel singing voice.)
  • Sister Robert Anne - a tough streetwise nun with a heart of gold. She is adored by the kids because she speaks their language, and she can hit a baseball out of the park.
  • Sister Mary Amnesia - the picture of innocence, she can't remember her past, so she looks at each new day with childlike joy. (Must be able to sing and manipulate a puppet.)
  • Sister Mary Leo - young and impressionable, she is a professional-dancer-turned-nun who is always eager to display her talent. (Must be able to dance on Pointe.)

About Nunsense

The Little Sisters of Hoboken stage a variety show as a fundraiser to help bury four of their dearly departed sisters who lost a bout with botulism brought on by Sister Julia's homemade vichyssoise. Dan Groggin won the outer Critics' Circle Award for best off-Broadway musical, best book and best music for this show. It will be directed and choreographed by Rob Dawson who is returning to the Lake Worth Playhouse after staging last summer's sell-out hit musical, Hair.
