Famed Atlanta-area actress/director Carol Mitchell Leon joins Hilton Hotels, the Tony Awards and The Fox Theatre in hosting a theatre workshop for more than 50 students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta and the Ego Ideal After-School and Tutoring Program as part of Hilton's First Theatre Memories Program.
Leon, local choreographer Dawn Axam and artist Judy Winograd will direct students in a short scene of their own creation as well as a song from the new White Christmas production by Atlanta's Theater of the Stars, which is playing at The Fox Theatre from November 6-11.
The Theatre Workshop is Saturday November 10 beginning at 10:30AM. The special appearance from a White Christmas cast member is at 12:30PM; at the Hilton Atlanta (255 Courtland Street NE, Atlanta, GA).
Participants will act, sing and dance and, will be treated to a surprise guest appearance by one of the stars of the hit touring musical, who will provide acting tips on how to perfect the kids' stage performance. Following their mini-performance, the students will attend a matinee show and receive an exclusive opportunity to meet the cast.
This workshop is one of three hosted by Hilton Hotels, the Tony Awards and participating theatres in select cities through March 2008 designed to enhance students' appreciation for the arts and provide them with opportunities to experience a Broadway show for the first time. To further extend their theatre experience, participating students in each city can enter Hilton's "First Theatre Memories" Writing Contest where one lucky winner will receive a free trip for two to attend the 2008 Tony Awards.
The Fox Theatre is supporting this Atlanta event as part of its annual Education and Outreach Programming.
