Community Planning Forum and County Cultural Forum

to be Held on Thursday, November 8

At Noon, at the ArtsPark at Young Circle, Hollywood Blvd.   

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Broward County Commission's Cultural Division invites residents, community leaders and arts advocates to participate in a joint session of the annual Community Planning Forum and a County Cultural Forum. This session will be held onThursday, November 8, 2007, at noon, at the ArtsPark at Young Circle, Hollywood Blvd., at Federal Hwy. ( U.S. Route 1) in Hollywood.  

This two-tier meeting will provide an opportunity for community members to contribute to the shaping of the goals for arts and culture countywide AND provide a chance to share regional cultural services. Items on this Brown Bag Lunch agenda will include: arts and culture in Hollywood; county welcome, 2010 Cultural Plan Update; Broward County Commission Goal # 7 update; accomplishments for 2007; goals for 2008; public comments and an ArtsPark at Young Circle Tour facilitated by park designer architect Margi Glavovic Nothard. 

The Community Planning Forum is the annual meeting of the Broward Cultural Council. An Overview of the current activities of the Division will be facilitated by Mary A. Becht, director of the Broward Cultural Division. The Accomplishments for 2007 will be shared by Anthony Abbate, Chair of the Broward Cultural Council, andthe Council Goals for 2008 will be facilitated by 1st Vice-Chair Broward Cultural Council Edith Gooden-Thompson. In addition to this panel, requests will be solicited on ideas, needs and comments from the participants. 

The County Cultural Forum consists of an update by the Broward Cultural Division on the latest cultural opportunities for municipalities, their arts councils and arts advisory boards. Information will also be shared about arts programming in the City of Hollywood.

The County Cultural Forum program is the recipient of a National Association of Counties Achievement Award in recognition of the work to promote responsible, responsive and effective county government.
