For more than three decades, MARIONETAS DE LA ESQUINA has been entertaining children and adults with unique performance experiences, transforming the art of puppetry into a magical wonderland of adventure and surprise. Based in Mexico, the troupe performs in both English and Spanish, and maintains a repertory of ten original productions - each one designed to expand young people's understanding of the universe.
"When we had MARIONETAS perform at the Adrienne Arsht Center last season, children and adults alike were absolutely mesmerized by their enchanting performance and one-of-a-kind puppets," said M. John Richard, president and CEO of the Adrienne Arsht Center. "Now, we are delighted to bring the troupe back for this exciting new production, to be performed in English and Spanish, for the entire South Florida community to enjoy."
Founded in 1975, MARIONETAS DE LA ESQUINA produces original puppet theater works intended to both entertain and enlighten young minds. The legendary troupe's repertoire has expanded all aspects of puppet theater - from set and puppet design to dramaturgy and storyline. THE CIRCUS, one of MARIONETAS' most exciting repertory works, takes the audience on an unforgettable journey to an old-fashioned circus, complete with a big top tent and master jugglers. In an explosion of movement, color, and joyful noise, THE CIRCUS tells the story behind the big tent, channeling all the excitement of the circus into one fantastic display of puppet theatrics.
