Gulfshore Playhouse Presents Pulitzer Prize-Winning Drama

Gulfshore Playhouse brings Naples professional theatre at its best with their production of "Doubt: a Parable" by John Patrick Shanley.  The highly acclaimed drama plays February 18th through March 1st at the Norris Center in Downtown Naples.

Set in a parochial school in the Bronx in 1964, "Doubt" is a gripping story of suspicion cast on a priest's behavior.  The play is less about scandal and more about the fascinatingly nuanced questions of moral certainty.

"Doubt is a powerful and thought-provoking drama, a real modern masterpiece. It is thrilling for Gulfshore Playhouse to be able to bring our audiences such an acclaimed play with a tremendously talented cast.  I think this will be a play that people will think about and talk about far after it's over," states Kristen Coury, Gulfshore Playhouse Founder and Producing Artistic Director.

Beginning with this production, Gulfshore Playhouse will be partnering with Café Lurcat to offer theatre patrons a special opportunity to enhance their evening out.  Ticket holders, who present their email ticket confirmation, can enjoy a three course meal and a glass of wine at the Downtown Naples eatery for only $20.95 per guest.  Reservations are requested with seating from 5:00-6:15.

Tony Award Nominated actor Alan Campbell will star as Father Flynn, the priest whose actions are being called into question.  Campbell received his nomination for originating the role of Joe Gillis, in Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Sunset Boulevard" opposite Glenn Close, Betty Buckley and Elaine Paige.  Naples audiences will remember Alan from his star turn in Gulfshore Playhouse's production of "Oleanna" by David Mamet.  Mr. Campbell also starred in the musical "Contact" on Broadway and in the National Tour and has numerous stage and film credits, including his reoccurring role on the television series "Jake and the Fatman" and "Three's a Crowd."

Sister Aloysius, the hard-nosed principal who acts upon her suspicions, will be portrayed by veteran actress Dale Soules.  Ms. Soules made her Broadway debut in the musical "Hair", and has recently appeared on Broadway in "The Crucible" directed by Richard Eyre (with Liam Neeson and Laura Linney) and the Tony Award-winning "Grey Gardens"  Dale has performed in many productions Off-Broadway, internationally and at many of our best-known regional theatres.

The role of Sister James, Sister Aloysius' mostly unwilling accomplice will be played by Elizabeth A. Davis.  Ms. Davis has numerous regional credits, most recently appearing in the world premiere of "Dirty Business" by William Mastrosimone at Florida Stage in Manalapan.

Patricia Idlette will play Mrs. Muller, the mother of the school's first African American student.  Idelette has worked in many regional theatres throughout the U.S. and Canada.  Patricia has several film and TV credits to her name including: "Scary Movie 3," "Man in the Mirror," "Psych," "Dead Like Me," "Battlestar Galactica" and "John Doe."

Kristen Coury, Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Gulfshore Playhouse, will direct. Rounding out the creative team are: Matt Flynn Set Designer, Curtis Lee Jones Lighting Designer, Jamie Carmichael, Props Master, and Jackie Morelisse, Costume Designer.
