Winner of the 2013 Drama Desk Award, this fantastically funny one-man tour-de-force was the most talked about new comedy of last year's Off-Broadway Season. Buyer & Cellar is an outrageous new comedy about the oddest of odd jobs: an underemployed Los Angeles actor named Alex More goes to work in Barbra Streisand's Malibu basement. What follows is a riotously funny new play that gets every comedic element right, ultimately questioning the price of fame. Chris Crawford will amaze audiences playing a half-dozen roles including Alex More, his boyfriend Barry, James Brolin, Streisand's House Manager and ultimately Barbra herself.
Chris Crawford is thrilled to be returning to Actor's Playhouse where he was last seen as Eric Sheridan in Unnecessary Farce and as Tom in Murder Ballad (Carbonell Award Winner). Other South Florida credits include Les Miserables (Grantaire/Ensemble/Maltz Jupiter Theatre), Assassins (Balladeer/Zoetic Stage), The Lion in Winter (Richard/Palm Beach Dramaworks) and The Little Dog Laughed (Mitchell/Island City Stage). Chris has also been seen regionally in Edward II (Edward III/Shakespeare Theatre Company), One Man, Two Guvnors (Francis/TheatreSquared) and My Name is Asher Lev (Asher/American Stage Theatre Company). Chris is originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma where he founded Playhouse Tulsa and was Producing Artistic Director for five years. He is the 2007 National Winner of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Irene Ryan Scholarship for Acting, as well as the Mark Twain Award for Outstanding Comedic Performance.
The creative team for Buyer & Cellar includes Scenic Design by Gene Seyffer, Lighting Design by Eric Nelson, Sound and Projection Design by Shaun Mitchell, Costume Design by Ellis Tillman and Properties Design by Jodi Dellaventura.
